Universal Village (UV) is a new concept proposed by MIT’s Universal Village Program which exemplifies an ideal future society that pursues harmony between humans and nature through the wise use of advanced technology. IEEE International Conference on Universal Village (UV) explores systematic methodologies for improving the quality of life by advancing the technology of the Universal Village and its major subsystems, including intelligent health care, intelligent transportation, intelligent environment, intelligent energy management, and protection of the environment. It is technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society.

Mission: Use a systematic top-down design approach to improve quality of life and environment

Actions: 

  • Promote a systematic, top-down design approach to develop sustainable communities in harmony with both humans and nature;
  • Explore key technologies that may bring true intelligence to the future UV and the impact of the new vision on lifestyles, economics, and future societies;
  • Investigate the integration and dynamic interactions among different subsystems of communities and their dynamic impacts on the whole system;
  • Embrace regional/cultural factors and their impacts on regional development paths and key technologies appropriate for different countries/regions.
